Capt. Dave De Gennaro ran his Hi-Flier north from Manasquan Inlet this morning to try bunker schools where I had hooked a 46-inch bass on Sunday, and put his party into a 28-pounder while three others were lost to pulled hooks. While off Long Branch he got a call from someone on the Manasquan Inlet jetty who saw bass crashing into a bunker school there.

Joe Mellilo, at Castaways Tackle in Point Pleasant weighed two bass caught in the middle of the night. Joe Spinelli of Jackson had a 25 1 2-pounder on an SP Minnow, and John Longo of Brick beached a 16-pound bass.
Many is fishing the Hi-Mar Striper Club Striper Tournament this weekend, and this was an exploratory trip hampered by the need to hide from the gusty NW wind. Bob Correll of Bay Head cast into his local surf this morning, and didn't catch anything -- but was encouraged when an angler caught a bass around 28 inches on a black swimmer.

Capt. Bobby Bogan picked a few yellowfin tuna in the 60-to-70-pound class during Monday night's Hudson Canyon trip with his Gambler from Point Pleasant.
Bogan finished up with a good catch of dolphin in the morning. Leif Pettersen reports that Ben Green of Wayside got into some short stripers late Monday night at Sandy Hook, releasing six from 19 to 25 inches on a white bucktail.
The Queen Mary from Point Pleasant had a high hook on Monday of 12 blues up to 15 pounds. The surf was perfect for casting, and mild temperatures prevailed but Leif Pettersen didn't have a hit while fly fishing at Deal.
Allen caught a small blue before dawn on a Mann's Super Stretch 1-Minus, and added a few more plus a 29-inch striper later on a Tsunami Slimwave metal. I tried the Sea Girt surf in good conditions, but nothing went on there.
Capt. Howard Bogan reported it was very slow Friday night on his Jamaica from Brielle, with only a swordfish lost, until tuna turned on at 4 a. m. Bogan cancelled the Saturday night trip due to the strong NW wind, but has room on upcoming trips.
